Recode tpms to ftm on e70?
 

I am looking to buy a set of rims/tires that don't have TPMS. I saw forums explain that one can change from TPMS to FTM (Flat Tire Management-based on wheel speed sensors) on e90 e83 e60 etc, but nothing direct for e70.

Has anyone done this successfully? I know the RDC receiver is between the diff and muffler, no problem to unplug that, but the coding specifics and whether it works?

Yeah I saw that link but some of the values aren't in the e70 kombi, supposedly there's 2 other ones instead.

Maybe read each module till you find the values?

very interested to learn in how to do this as well as soon as my TPMS dies.

I just got it working. Now it says FLAT TIRE MONITOR in CIC!

On pre 10/10 build date e70, unplug the RDC module which is under the drivers dash:

Remove VO $2VB from CAS and FRM (not sure if necessary but did it anyway).

Things to change in coding modules:


After you do your typical key out, wait a bit, key in start engine.
Go into idrive and see the Flat Tire Monitor, you can reset there.

That's it!

I have done all the necessary, FTM seems to be active however I still see the following in the vehicle status, and the "flat tire" indicator on the dash

"tire pressure monitor malfunction"

Im a 2013 x5d




The one minor difference is instead of a "EHB" module, I have a "EHB3" Module

Did you unplug the tpms module? The one either under the dash or under the rear of the car?
Yeah ehb3 for me too, it had the coding I listed right?

Ok... old thread, I know.
I just did this and have the FTM option now, but still getting FTM System error and the reset is greyed out, so I can't reset it.
Coded out the $2VB (couldn't add $265 like others say to do), and pretty much followed the coding above for CIC, EHB3 and KOMBI. Also removed the RDC module from under the dash. Mine is a 01/2010 build.
Just to note... I did the coding first then changed the VO and removed the module. Would that make a differnce?

Figured it out. Had to use ISTA to initialize FTM... plus I had to do a steering angle calibration for some reason.
Once done, shows FTM active. Took it for a short drive after hitting reset and all good.

I did this a while back, seemingly coded fine. Shows up in idrive, can see status, reset, etc. However it never actually worked for me. Status always shows green no matter what pressure I have in the tires. Had a situation a while back where I had a completely flat tire (slow leak), didn't realize and drive out into the street before realizing. Granted that may not have been enough time for rtm to detect flat, but also same situation dropping to like 20 psi when I was doing some testing. Just posting to be aware, you may want to do some of your own testing. YMMV
