I hope the day will never come... Excellent DIY!

I'm hoping the extra film strength of the Redline 75W-110 that's in my diffs helps to prevent this! Ugly! X5s really should have come with 210mm diffs commonly used in M-cars and earlier 5 and 7 series. Much stronger.

i dont think any oils in the world will help, lol

Been working on cars, trucks, bikes, and planes almost all my life, that smell has to be one of the worst smells in the industry. Glad you got it sorted.

Entropy. Found this thread. Do you have 75W-110.

I have had 75-110 in ours formerly. I felt the drag. Went back to 90W.
Rear diff work. Just debating on which oil i want

I've had 75W-110 in both the front and rear diffs for almost 30k miles now. I highly doubt you'd be able to feel the difference between the two. Placebo effect? 75W-110 is the same viscosity as the 90 when cold, and only slightly thicker when hot.

I plan on replacing the fluid in both with another round of 75W-110 when I reach 30k miles.
