Red Screen at start up & MPG reset
 

So I recently picked up a 2012 BMW X5 from TX. Afgter 13 hrs of driving I finally got her back home. This morning at start up, I noticed a Red Screen on my Nav for a 1-2 sec and my MPG got reset? This has happened twice already. From doing a little research, some say it could be a loose connection to the battery (which seems odd because it starts up every time), could need a new battery cable, battery replacement, or idrive is going out....

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

You do a COMPLETE Due Diligence on that car????????? accident/flood history, PPI, etc etc?

I dont think Ive ever heard of a "red" screen...but your list of suspects sounds right.

Had a buddy look it over and the carfax came back clean.

MPG/clock resetting is one of the early signs of the battery going out.
