Two sets of wheels/Two sets of TPMS - X5D E70
 

Need some help.

I just purchased a second set of wheel and tires. I currently have a 2012 X5D (E70) with its standard wheels and TPMS, the second set are from a 2015 X5 (F15). Questions, Will the car recognise the new TPMS, or do I have to reset anything, or it must be done with a coder?

With proper sensors you just reset it in iDrive.

BMW changed the TPMS sensor frequency back in 2009/2010, so both set of TPMS sensors you mentioned should work since they are post-2010. You may need to reset TPMS in iDrive when swapping wheels.

Although this is an older thread...I would first do the simplest thing...and that would be to take the 11 digit part nbr from the sensor...then look it up in one of the online part database sites like:

• BMW Parts Catalog
• BMWfans.info
• www.etk.cc

Or if you don't have access to the wheel sensors...look up the BMW model (your e70 X5 and then the F15 X5) then go to the Wheel diagrams and get the correct 11 digit BMW part nbr for the wheel sensors for each model...then do a part nbr search to see if both models use the same sensors with the same part nbrs.


It will probably be about 5 minutes of your life to do this simple check...because I don't think the E70 LCI and F15 share the same TPMS sensors. But in case I'm wrong...the part database should verify if they are usable on both platforms. :)

My 2010 has the older sensors, new sensors in 11. I believe the sensors changed again 15+.

My X5 is a 2007 and I purchased a set of rims/tires from a 2013- the sensors work just fine.
