Testing the waters: How much is my '11 X5 35d worth?
 

Hi all. I've finally found a deal on a worthy replacement for my 2011 X5 35d. I'm considering selling the car private party vs. trading it, and I'm trying to get an idea what I can get for it.

This was a BMW executive car that I bought in early 2011 with 13k Miles on the clock. It now has a little over 80k. I had the ultimate service on it, so all service and repairs except tires were done by my local BMW dealership.

The car is in good condition by KBB standards. Everything works and it needs nothing mechanically or cosmetically. I just had the intake manifold de-carbonized when I had a faulty injector replaced. I also just put on a new set of Continental ExtremeContact™ DWS06's installed.

I am not looking for offers here, but really just asking for a collective view of what I should be asking for my SAV. Any inputs are much appreciated.

I'd say the KBB range is right in the ballpark for that year, mileage and options. You'd have to find the right buyer to get over $20k for it though I think.

If I was making you an offer (I'm in the market for one right now) I'd be looking to pay no more than $18k.

I would say $18ish. I paid $16k for my 2007 4.8 fully loaded two years ago with 77k miles. So that would be like buying a the same car/miles as a 2009 model year today.

I never found KBB to be real accurate especially in the east cost. Try NADA, it comes in at $16,500 for Trade in and $19,550 retail which sounds about right in my opinion. I have a 2011 X5 35D and I was offered 15k for it when it had 81k miles (trade in at BMW). Yours is so nicely optioned that I could see you breaking the 20k mark easily in a private sale.

Bit of a unicorn there. Over 20k and you will be competing with 12s and 13s (much much easier to find the gear that yours has). If that's my car I'm not letting it go under 20 with major service and tires just done. my .02
