Powered liftgate strut
Seems the power liftgate struts quit working. After basic troubleshooting, found right hand strut with an "open" during continuity check of motor.
Left side continuity is like 1-2ohms while right side is "open" reading. I supplied 12v directly to L/H actuator, works in both directions. 12v to right side=nothing either direction. Pretty much points to faulty R/H actuator. Question is, does the system know the R/H is bad therefore disables entire system? And how do we make this affordable? Ridiculess prices out there! TIA |

Only affordable option is to do it yourself. I looked for a used strut for a couple days, everything that looked trustworthy was nearly the same price as new. Shop around and online for the best price, Do not pull yours without stringing some sort of fish tape for the harness path. A new strut will come with a tool for this. Dealership is probably around $750 |
DIY for sure, aren't there any aftermarket parts for this?
I'm tempted to open it up, maybe just a cracked or loose solder joint on the circuit board? Lowest price so far is about $380. That really hurts! Maybe I'll convert to standard struts, I don't really need auto opening. Anyone repair one of these? Thanks again, |
