tires feedback is needed
hello,
I would like your feedback regarding tires of my x5 e70. I am driving around 40k km per year. My car's tires history for the last 2,5 years as follow: early 2016: rear: Pirelli P Zero 315/35/R20 XL R-F 110w, front: Pirelli P Zero 275/40/R20 XL R-F 106 w after 40k early 2017 rear:315/35/R20 dunlop SPMAXX 110w ROF front: 275/40/R20 dunlop SPMAXX 110w ROF today April 2018: Thinking of going to other brands: Hankook Ventus s1evo2 SUV or ATTURO AZ850 RFT Your feedback is much appreciated Thank you Marios |
I have the Continental extreme contact dws on mine as well as on my SQ5 and really, really like them.

The X5 we just purchased came with a new set of SCORPION VERDE ALL SEASON RUN FLATs. They are quiet and have a decent enough ride for run flats but they seem to break traction easier than they should under heavy braking. Im not a huge run flat fan so I probably will not buy another set but for the most part they seem to be decent enough tires.

Havering run on flat save the day twice now I'm a fan for life not going back.
Saved a trip to the mall of America once when a valve stem self destructed and I was able to drive to a safe location to temporarily fix the valve (with TAPE believe it or not: my wife said "don't you have tape or something" which I thought was ludicrous until I tried it) second time I got a flat at freeway speeds and though I ruined the tire by the time I pulled over the car drove fine on the flat including the mile or two to the next exit where I found a closed gas station with an overhead canopy and good lighting where I could change my flat in relative comfort compared to the freeway shoulder as it was breezy and 10°F and moderate snow. The run on flat also give me an extra 1000# load capacity. |

Pray to God but row toward shore.
I have runflats on the wife's X5 (Michelin Latitude ZP) and a spare tire and jack kit. |
Definitely need the spare. I bought mine for about 60% discount. With 70% tread
It cost me $105 with shipping and $20 to have a local muffler shop to install after the blow out that killed the tire. When the valve stem blew out it was free for Sam's club to repair as well as twice I had a screw get into my tire that was repaired for free. Non run flat will self destruct just the same as run on flat should you drive on them. With run on flat you can drive a little ways without any damage which has helped me a few times where I drove a little bit in the city with no damage. One time I actually removed the screw that caused the damage and put in a different flat head screw that let me drive to Sam's club to repair the tire without even changing to the spare. Fortunately I always have my tire pump in my car |
I have about 25k miles on 255/55R19 111V Michelin Premier LTX and they are fantastic and still look new; a good alignment helps with that. Quiet, smooth, good fuel mileage, quite good in snow/ice even when compared to my Michelin*Latitude*X-Ice*Xi2. Taken them cross country and back and quite a few trips up and down the East Coast. They are not run-flat.
