E70 4.8 Camshaft Sensor B location, which one?
 

Hi All - can anyone help with this, had a look through and can't see the answer on here.

I'm getting an OBD DTC of camshaft bank 2 Sensor B error, combined with some hesitation. Worked out which is bank two (left hand side from divers seat) and found where the sensors are (Right at the back, a pain to get to under the wiring loom), but there are two, one higher up than the other.

Anyone know which is B, logic would suggest its the lower one?

Gonna save me a lot of pain replacing the wrong one, putting everything back together again etc

First prove that it’s actually the sensor that is faulty.


Clear the codes, swap them, scan for codes. If fault followed to that sensor (which would be sensor B) the change it.

Use realOEM to find the location.

thanks for the quick reply. Sadly I've seen that diagram, but there are two cam sensors on my bank and peering down its impossible to see which is which, so possible not the same engine - though aside from that everything else lines up !

What is your engine ?
PM me your last seven digits and i will be able to run it.


Also one easy way is to disconnect one sensor at a time, and scan for codes when Ignition is ON.

Code description will tell you which one is missing.

Hey, I had the same problem. I just replaced both of them. Cause I did one and like a week later the other one gave out. Also don't buy aftermarket or ebay, I learned the hard way. Pelican parts are the best with price and manufacturers, OEM parts. Plug and play, installation was a pain, but the errors went away and haven't been back for over a year now. N62, 08' BMW X5 4.8i

OEM or OE?

BMW part is OE

The company that made the OE part is 'the OEM' and parts they now offer under their own name are "oem parts"

Got one from Euro's. They only do the one, its Siemens, so assume its OEM
