Mud Flaps or Not?
I know it’s going to seem strange, but what look do you prefer on the E70, mud flaps or no mud flaps?
This question came about when I took a rear flap off that was broken to fix it, and the thing was full of sand and dirt. The roads here in NY during winter are a mix of salt, sand, or whatever they can put down to give you traction. The OEM flaps are hollow and it must have been filled with about 5 pounds of this sand mix, so clearly the two small drain holes at the bottom are not doing their job. No mud flaps

The drain holes are there to drain water...not dirt and sand. :)
Mud flaps are an extremely personal choice and it doesn't matter what others think of them. They serve a simple perfunctory purpose...to protect the rocker panels...and I guess for some, they also can be a cosmetic modification, too. If you need them to protect your rocker panels...then install them. If you don't think they are worth it...don't. If you like the way they look, then install them...if you think they look funky...don't. Totally your call...don't worry about what others may think of 'em. :2thumbs: Plus, there are different part nbrs for front & rear...depending on what size wheels you have and if you have the sport pkg, aerodynamic pkg, or aluminum "foot plate": |
I just searched and the fronts look decent but the rears definitely look out of place. This is one of those function over form parts I suppose.

I am currently driving with mud flaps in the front, and no flaps in the rear, not a good look. I took the rears off to fix one of them, but I think I’m going no flaps.... taking the fronts off when I get home. The snow buildup in the wheel wells where the flaps are almost rip them off every year, so that will fix it.

I don’t think you need the mud flaps. If you drive gravel roads every day then maybe.
I drive a fair amount and I don’t feel that I need them. |
