Dual stage climate unit removed and bad IBC cable discovered..

Funny thing is all the buttons, parking assist, trac, trunk latch, all seem to work fine. Now my question is, could a bad IBC cable cause multiple k-can faults across the board? As you may already know from another post, I'm still dealing with the issue of hesitation and multiple can faults showing up on carly. When all faults are cleared, a few come right back. AC, sunroof, alarm back up battery discharged, energy saving mode active, they all come back right away. The others that trigger the hesitation problem comes back after a short drive. But I've decided to look into the AC only because the driver side blows cool air when the ac is on. So after removing the dual state climate unit, I noticed damage to the IBC cable.

Wow that’s quite the find. Can you solder in a new cable or how are you planning to fix it?

I don't think soldering is an option due to the little amount of space between the pins. I phoned up bmw and they said it only comes with the unit, which is sad because I could easily remove this cable.

Intermittent grounding (or just pulling signals down or crosstalk) on the buss can cause those faults.

Should be an off the shelf cable...NOT at BMW tho

I bet you could find a piece of cable at a TV repair shop. Those guys are pretty helpful at random electronics.

If the conductors themselves arent cut, simply take an exacto knife and separate each 'wire' for an inch or two- just along the damaged. You can then tape each to fix the insulation.

If you have a ridiculous amount of patience and a ridiculously steady hand you can give this a go:

You can also call up some of the more technical cell/computer/electronic repair shops and ask. There are a few c-list listings in my area for these types of repairs.

I ended up extending and soldering 2 pins from the ibc cable. Thankfully, I still have my old desktop in storage so I was able to pull the ibc from the hard drive. Anyhow, after putting back the climate unit and checking Carly, a few CAN faults are gone. However, the AC CAN is still there. So therefore, I will be checking the rear climate unit too as it seems to be acting funny. I'll need to check all the wires under the center console to rule out a short, but I'm actually hoping to find one. Hope this will solve the mystery.
