Transfer Case - front output shaft play - video
 

See the video below. I noticed the front output shaft on my transfer case has a little play. Does this appear to be an issue? Or is just normal amount of play between the splines (since it does slide in and out)? It’s not the u-joint, btw.

Normal from my exp. I replaced that front u-joint shaft in Dec 2014 w 66K miles & it’s still the same w/newer one. I currently have 113K miles and I routinely haul 5K on a 150 mile round trip at least once a month...and I’m not babying my my tranny like I used too bc it may jerk here or there etc etc.

Just saying I got tired of tip toeing around my X5 and drive it hard (aka Normal) w/o caring anymore. If it breaks it breaks...Not being negative I still love my X5 even though I’ve basically pawned it off on the wife the last couple years & it gets abused by both of us!
