Seems like people aren’t reading or responding to the original post. Yeah, we all like a floor jack and jack stands in our driveway. Or better yet a lift.

The OP’s question was answered early in this thread…. Yes a 2 Ton bottle jack can be used to lift one wheel of an E70 for a tire change.

The further posts explain why lifting an E70 with a bottle jack to change a tire can be risky and offer safer alternatives. At the very least the E70 should be blocked to keep it from rolling off the jack. Adding jack stands before removing the wheel would reduce the risk a little more, etc..

FWIW I keep a small bottle jack in our Pathfinder for emergencies. I’ve used bottle jacks to do routine maintenance on my cars/trucks over the last 50 yrs — and lived to tell about it. But that still doesn’t make it a smart thing to do.

BTW I only use a bottle jack to do the lifting. Then I let the vehicle back down on jack stands or wooden blocks (typically short 2x8s and/or 4x4s stacked in alternate directions) before removing wheels, etc.. I’m slow. So it took me a lot of years to realize that a floor jack is not only safer, it takes up less space than a bottle jack and the necessary blocks to make it safe :)

[QUOTE=FunfDreisig;1141242]This is the simple wooden plug to place in the jack socket that allows me to place the jack stands directly under the "approved" jack socket. The 1/4in steel bar is attached to the wooden plug that fits in the jack socket.

I keep an air pump, puncture repair kit and a can of fix flat, no spare or jack in my car and it's worked on the side of the road a few times.

BUT...for a jack pad this is what I've been using for years...$10 for pack of 4 can't be beat.

For those having trouble visualizing a 2 ton bottle jack raised to the height required to remove the rear wheel, without crawling under the X5.
