07 wheels on 18
 

Sorry if this has been asked before. I just sold my 07 X5 4.8 and got an 18 X5 with the M package. Will my 18” wheels fit? I want to add them for snow tires. The 18’s are 255/55/18. Will the 07 tpms (sensors) work with the new X?

What came stock on the new X are 255/50/19. And lastly, anyone have a good experience with a certain brand? I’m leaning towards the Bridgestone blizzak DMV2 or Nokian.

Worst case if I don’t/can’t use the old 18’s, I’ll rotate snows on the 19’s.

You can see the wheel specs of the e70 vs the f15 in the chart below...along with the note they use different TPMS sensors. You can also verify which sensors you need by using one of the online part database sites like BMW Parts Catalog or BMWfans.info or www.etk.cc ...just enter the last 7 digits of your VIN then select the wheel diagrams to find the 11 digit BMW part number your f15 needs.

Also look in your owners manual for BMW recommendation of winter tire sizes to make sure the 18 tires you have are compatible for the f15 X5.

Odd they list a different rear center bore for the e70 e71, this is not the case with a normal setup.

Yes...the e70 X5M (only) and the e71 X6 models have different center bores in regards to the front axle vs the rear axle. Again, the split axle different center bore ONLY APPLIES to the e70 X5M...the other e70 models have the same 74.1mm center bore on front & rear axles.



This is why one should always check the BMW part nbr and specs on wheels since some platforms have models that have slightly different set-ups. Aftermarket wheels for the X5/X6 may use the larger center bore...and the front is adapted by using hub centric rings. If buying used X5/X6 wheels...then check their part nbr to make sure that you're receiving the correct rear wheel for your model.



The wheel spec list above hasn't been updated yet...but some of the new M models (like the f06/f12/f13 M6) has a different rear wheel offset range than the regular 6 series models of its generation.

Too bad you aren't in Arizona, I have a set of e70 19's with Blizzaks on them that I need to sell.

I got the X5 and it had snow tires which I didn't want for the phoenix summer. I decided to go with 18" AT tires so I have the whole wheel/tire combo for sale. They have between 4.5 and 6mm of their original 8.7mm of tread depth left.

I have them listed at $999 on CL locally. Shipping would probably be difficult. :(

I could look into shipping if you are interested in them. Shipping from AZ to CO might be possible if I cardboard pad the wheel faces but they weigh a few pounds each...

I live in lakewood close to south west plaza mall. I’m now leaning just changing out my current tires to snows and take a hit every time I switch them. Less headache worrying about them fitting/problems! Probably going to get the blizzacks. Who knows! Probably next week!

Blizzaks in that size (255/50/19) as runflats were $420 each when i last checked tirerack... :(

I’m not going to do run flats. I believe they are around $200 at discount tire here. Not a fan of run flats.

Neither am I... I have removed them from all of my vehicles.

Our friends with 3rd row seating and no spare tire might be though.

Depends on the brand of the runflats. I know one complaint about it is the feel of it. The expensive ones are not bad though. I got the Pirellis snow and ice and they are premium tires and they feel the same as the Non RFT ones, feel better than Nittos, ones I had before this. Would I buy RFT after my current set? Absolutely.

eurogreek1, feel free to test drive my X5 if you want to feel the scorpions.

That is probably true for the X5 with a 50 series tire.

My 335i had 265/30/19s on it and at the lower profiles the runflats were rim cracking stiff (literally). That plus the costs made me move away from them, I will put up with having to lug a spare tire around.

Also remember that BMW offers the tire mobility kits for those that are eschewing runflats and going to regular tires. If you feel that stowing a spare tire kit takes up too much trunk or cargo space...there's the option of the tire mobility kit that comes with a "built in" and replaceable (once it is used) canister of sealant (the new style kit) and a 12v air compressor. The compressor has a selection for air (only) or repair (uses the built in sealant canister). That along with a road side service (like AAA) can be a work around if you want to dump the run flats. :)

I just picked up a tire mobility kit off Amazon.com...it was brand new and the seller was a BMW/Mini of San Francisco.
