20" x 10" Style 214 Front rims on Rear of E70 X5

Anyone have any pics of a X5 with the Front style 214's on the rear of the car? I would like to run 275/40/20's all the way around so I can rotate them and hopefully get better life out of the tires? Due to a BMW alignment, I corded the inside of my 315 Continental ExtremeSport DWS06's in less than 20,000 miles while the outside still showed DWS in the tread. Front's were about 1/2 worn out. Took it to independent to have aligned to Ard's minimal tow specs and car drives so much better to me.

Thanks,

While I haven't personally done this, I can speak from experience in having run a full square set on my E38 for years for this very reason.

Since you know there are square sets of 19" rims, and you also know the front 214 rim has the proper backspacing to fit the front, therefore it must fit the back too. Assuming you're not talking about an X5M, then you have issues with different center bores.

This can all be confirmed by running numbers and figuring out what the exact backspacing is, by comparing wheel width with the offset and doing some math.

The issue you'll probably run into is aesthetic - do you have wide wheel flares, or stock fender arches? I'm guessing the stock arches may look better with a square set of rims on there.

Absolutely doable.

However, do you have the fender flare option? If so, the wheel will be very sunken in and look awful without a rear spacer. will need 15mm or 17.5mm spacer to make the wheel stick out as much as the 20x11 wheel).

Yes, I have the rear wheel fender lip extension.

I know it's an old thread, but did you ever get to do this? The same idea popped into my head today.

Guys, just look up the offsets and use a wheel calculator. You can easily compare the specs and see if it will work for your application. Best to do you own research with wheel fitment, besides it's good info to understand so you don't have to rely on others.

Lao,

I did not try the front 214 wheels on the rear. I basically started having issues with oil leaks from the intake manifold and oil cooler/oil filter housing at ~90,000 miles. So, I ended up fixing this myself at ~$400 and 3 days of work, then I started looking into changing the transmission fluid at several hundred dollars and basically got aggravated and went an traded the X5. I enjoyed the car but sleep better at night knowing the next fix wasn't going to cost me ~$1000s.

BTW, I have an extra Mann oil filter, a gallon of antifreeze, a BMW oil filter wrench, Carly Bluetooth Diagnostic Tool and a Schwaben coolant evacuation tool that I need to sale. Contact me if interested.

Thanks for the update. I got all these replaced last week, so I'm good for another several thousands miles.
