Can I delete EGR only?

Hi all. i've been lurking for a few weeks and I just picked up a 2013 35d and have done all maintenance and logged about 3k miles so far (Road trip after 1 week ownership). Also had a Stage 1 tune done by my indy while I had the car there.

Anyway, I do plan to do the complete DPF/SCR delete later on with the Buzzken kit, but I was wondering if I can do JUST the EGR throttle delete for time being. My indy will be doing the valve cover soon along with some preventative maintenance and I figured since they will already be in that area, why not?

Online searching usually just shows the entire delete being done, not just the EGR throttle. Any downsides?

All opinions welcomed, thank you.

My understanding is just the EGR Delete can be done. I currently have a stuck open code on my EGR, and I'm considering doing an EGR delete 'pipe', removing the EGR Valve, and cooler assembly and replacing with EGR Delete section.

Of course it will need to be removed in the ECR Tune, if you want to loose the check engine light, but you should be able to leave the SCR and DPF systems in place, they shouldn't be dependent upon the EGR if I understand correctly.

Maybe I shouldn't have even replied, there are those much more knowledgeable about this around here than I, I'm in the information gathering phase myself..

Thanks for the reply, i'm new to the 35d so I wasn't too sure about it.

You're thinking is like mine, should be fine removing the EGR (and cooler etc). I saw the race pipe from AARodriguez and will most likely buy that for now. My indy can definitely "code" out the error's.

Thanks again!

Why would you allow an unknown indy to load any stage tune to your X5? There's only 1-2 tuners I trust. Go with AArods race pipe and have Dima from DUDMD remotely tune your X5 to delete the EGR.

Sorry, I should have been a little clearer. My indy is very much capable, I Just don't like to advertise the shop much. Been doing work for many years with them and they have tuned many cars and a few of mine.

DUDMD is very well known and respected, I've followed his work for many years through the forums and have seen his 35d as well. Great stuff!

Thanks for the reply, AARod's race pipe is what I plan to order :D

*edit*..BTW, love the video clip you have posted of the exhaust sound. Partially why I want to do the deletes as well

I have JR Auto stage 2 tune w/ EGR delete and AA Rod EGR race pipe. The X5 has 160k miles on it and no issues, had the tune since 105k miles.

Best of Luck!
Jeff
