CCC default to FM on startup

Is this a common issue? I always use AUX when driving as the radio source. But upon startup it defaults back to FM radio. I was hoping there could be a setting for this somewhere? But this might be the excuse I need to go and get a software update.

Anyone have any insight or dealt with this themselves?

Is there an AUX signal present before starting? I seem to recall that if there is no aux signal present when starting, system will switch to mode where a signal exists, like FM or CD.

Guess I'll have to try and remember to hit play on the ipod before putting the key in and see what happens. Thanks

Well no luck with this. Even with the ipod playing prior to inserting the key, as quickly as I can touch the start button, the stereo comes on tuned to FM radio.

I'm going to talk to a good indy BMW mechanic to see if he can update the software for me.

You can check the status of your software by going to the BMW website. Assuming your vehicle has been plugged into the mothership at some point, it'll be able to tell you if there's an update required or not.

CIC doesn't behave this way but key driver memory will change audio modes. You didn't mention if this is a recent development or if something was changed recently.

I just got this vehicle a few weeks ago. I'm the only one that has driven it since I've had it, and I only use one key. Pretty positive this is isn't something that just started happening. I'll have to track down the website you're talking about to check my software.

If you have another key, try it. Be interesting ti see if the behavior changes.

Just requires your vehicle's VIN.

That software update doesn't apply to anything old enough to have a CCC.

I don't understand. It's not a one size fits all tool. Either there's an update available or there's not. Clearly the software version that appears if you enter a VIN for a 2012 X5 wouldn't be applicable to 2008 X5. Unless you're saying that the tool only works for vehicles with CIC or later.
