Particle filter Malfunction
Hey guys and apologies if this has already been dealt with. I recently had my Turbo Reconditioned as it broke off all turbines inside. Upon the car return it was lacking Power, took it back to the mechanic and he said the Particle Filter is gone too so we need to either get a new one or remove it... and I took the latter. So he gut the Exhaust and the particle filter and removed the insides. Now every time I get into the car, it has power for the 1st 10min of take off then pops "Particle Filter Malfunction Error", Power gone again, it's driva'ble but only up to around 120km/h. He tell me that I need to take the car to the car tuning people to fix that, for another R6000 (South African Rands), man this sucks as I already spent a lot on the Turbo. Any advice on this!

So, you removed the dpf from the exhaust system, but did your mechanic remove it from your soft(ecu) too so your car will know that it no longer has a dpf ?

Its okay to say it's 100% the problem.

You could have had the DPF cleaned, instead of destroyed. Is this one of those mechanics that works out of a cardboard box? I'm going to guess you chose him since he was the cheapest...not because he was the best shop you could find. R6000 is USD425. |

For all we know your particle filter might have been fine....it might be the 'mechanic' read the standard 'DPF life warning' that is trigger at 1xx,000 miles and decided *that* must be the issue. SO he gutted it, ruining it.
Now, after you get the car coded, are you confident it will be running great? And, BTW- $425 for coding something like this is nothing these days. Finally, what ELSE has he hacked out of the car? |
You also have to remove the scr because without dpf that will clog up quickly.
Oops scr not scd |
