BimmerCode now supports E series

I already have BimmerCode for the M2. The last update included support for E series so i decided to check it out.
There isn't nearly as much as you can do with newer car models but I turned off the passenger seat belt chime. I have a bad occupancy sensor on that side. I also turned on Digital MPH display between the two gauges so now when you hit the button on the end of the turn signal stalk, MPH is now one of the options.
Other than that, most of the other options are available in iDrive

Nice to be able to change a few things if you already have BimmerCode for another vehicle but definitely not worth purchasing exclusively for the e70

is this completely free?

i currently have carly which is about $50/year.

thanks for letting us know

No it's not free. I think it was $27 for the app and $40 for the blue tooth OBDII adapter

So is anyone else using this currently? Looks like it covers a lot of my list of things I'd like to do, but not sure about all of it. Hesitant to drop the money without verification from someone who has used it on the e70 LCi :dunno:

All feedback Welcomed. My List of Coding wants (that I know of for now)..
  • Disable Passenger Seat Belt Warning
  • Disable Fog lamps with turning
  • Disable Entry/Access mode of Steering column
  • Disable iDrive Warning Message on Start-up
  • Enable Windows Close from Key
  • Enable Euro Hazards (Double Flash)
  • Enable Mirror fold with long press of lock button
  • Enable weather band
  • Enable rear hatch close with console button/or fob,
  • Show Tire PSI/Temp in iDrive
  • Enable iDrive Video while moving

May also be interested in coding out bulb tests to go to LED brake lights and turn signal bulbs as well..

Check his website. The last update added a lot more for the E series. There is a list of what it can do.
It’s a good program if all you want to do is go n your list.
For more serious coding, I’d look into Protools. That program will get very deep into all of the modules and you can do some serious coding with it. It also does data logging as well. Protools is what I use now as I’ve had to get pretty deep into the modules to resolve some issues, reset DTC data logging of boost, fuel pressure, etc

I guess given the relatively minor cost, I should just give it a go. Was trying to find an OBDII adapter that was on both the BimmerCode and the xHP Flash Tool list, but it seems like I'm going to need to buy two separate ones, which is a bit of a disappointment..

And since I'm going to have to pick-up an android tablet eventually to do a Trans Tune, do I go IOS or Android BimmerCode.. LOL! Decisions, decisions..

why don't you download NCS expert? that's what I use to code and it's free

sockethead 03-05-2020 03:20 PM

I have BimmerCode on IOS simply because that’s the phone I use. Since Protools is Android only, I had to use an old Galaxy note 3 I had laying around. No need to active the phone though, it works on WiFi only. If you’re looking for a used android device, make sure it’s V.5 or above. You need the proper USB support for the cable to work. I also used it for XHP

Same. I have Carly but don’t want to pay a second year for $50. I bought the $30 adapter.

No Laptop at the moment, and ease of use..

Crazy that Carly is a subscription for such an overall poorly built application. I loathe their new visual menu, it just makes it hard to get into the old menus that are just covered up by a different screen.

I'd suggest protools, personally. I've never used it but I do believe that it's by far the best option. You can do nearly everything from it, and the interface is great. I have ISTA and NCSexpert, and I've been considering buying protools anyway.

Not familiar with this, and not seeing much doing a quick search, do you have a link to more info by chance? :dunno:

Protool was created by Bimmergeeks, the same ones that sell a really good cable. <-- Have owned and mistreated one for a long while now and it's still doing great. There's an older thread about it here : https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...ol-way-go.html

Note: the link in the thread is still ok, but it will redirect you to Bimmergeeks current site for Protool.

I have Carly and thankfully don't have to pay the subscription (bought it before they implemented that) and have tested Protool a few times but never bought the license. Probably will at some point now that it's been through some *coughbetacough* testing via public use. :D
