Stop Steering Wheel from Telescoping
Hi,
I have a 07 X5 4.8. I was wondering if there was a way to stop the steering wheel from moving after I shut the ignition off. I think that my steering wheel motor is broken, so whenever it telescopes towards to driver, it makes a loud grinding noise that is audible from the outside. I worry that one day the motor will break, so is there a way to stop the wheel from moving after I stop the car? Thanks! |
You can code it out with NCS expert
Disabling Easy Entry Exit - Steering Column Module : IHKA_E70.C08 ELSV_EH_LAENGE -> aktiv -> nicht_aktiv ELSV_EH_NEIGUNG -> aktiv -> nicht_aktiv |
I have ncs set up on a virtual machine but have had no luck with it. Best I can tell this can’t be done with Carly? Mine works fine but I’d like to disable, I find myself pulling on it while I get out while it’s recoiling so I’m sure it’ll break at some point. I’d rather it just sit tight.

I've coded mine out successfully with NCS expert. Not sure why it's not working for you. Carly cant code it out

It's ridiculous how much Carly charges with a subscription, yet they don't add anything new for coding.

My motor squeals a little doing this too, I would be interested if anyone knows how to lubricate the mechanism???
Also, Anything you can do with NCS expert... you can do safety with protool. I have found it to be an excellent investment and because it isn’t VIN locked and they are continuously updating, it should be good for many BMW’s in the future. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
I did this with the ProTool about a month ago so thumbs up for that one for ease of use

i have 2007 e70 3.0d when you turn of yor car and the wheel starts to move hold it , it stops and stays in place until you move it trhough the button. there is somekind of safety feature like windows have, if there are something on the way. I did this to my car week ago and steering wheel is in place. but this is what I did, and I do not take any responopility if you brake something. good luck |

yes you hold the wheel thight and it stops. first its going up and it will go about 5 cm then it stops so but the wheel a bit lower position than usual and do not over force it just hold it firm. I tried it few times and made sure that ewerithing still works properly if I want to change wheel position later.
