Yup.

R-22 is used in home a/c systems not cars. r134a is the common refrigerant used in the auto industry. If you mean r1234yf some manufactures used it in 14 or 15 but its not super common. your vehicle is probably r134a.

R-12 was the one before r134a. In older cars that were converted from 12 to 134 sometimes they were weak. A fix was to use an r12 alternative that was based on butane, etc but I can't remember the name now. It's closer to the original r12 pressures. 134 went higher and 1234yf much higher.

Well I finally was able to take my car in and have the freon checked and filled to the correct level and I am still having a problem with it blowing warm on drivers side and cool on passenger side. I changed the HCV and still no luck.

Out of curiosity, how much freon did it need???

Do you have a computer that will let you access, interrogate, reset the IHKA? (IHKA is the hvac system, in BMW speak)

The shop evac the system checked for leaks and added 25 oz of freon. I have INPA will that reset the IHKA?

Pretty empty... But sounds like it held vacuum OK.

ISTA should do it, others have posted off HVAC performance getting fixed w a reset. Just a suggestion, haven't had to do it myself
