Recommend good android for CCC
Hello
I think I'm going crosseyed looking at all the android systems available for the CCC system found in our 07'. I was wondering if anyone could confidently recommend a good unit to buy. Im looking for the I-Drive knob, steering wheel buttons, backup camera and voice commands to remain functional. Reason I say this is my experience with tech stuff is limited and I'm not sure what functions will no longer work with the android units. Our existing screen has some lines in it and probably due for a change. Advice would be appreciated. |

But if anyone has been using them problem free for years I'm all ears. Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk |

I think most of them are made by the same manufacturer and just branded differently. Sent from my iPhone using Xoutpost.com |

You need at least 8 core processor 9.1 Android Dab Front and rear cam feature DSP compatible for those with a Posh system. I am looking as we speak, so I will no doubt put up my posts when I buy one |
These units look good physically but kinda suck

I bought a unit from AVINUSA and has been using it for over a year with no issues. Took me half a day to install. Well made and looks very cool. I would include the rear view camera unit incorporated with the lock. Camera is awesome. Completely plug and play. No cutting or splicing!
I also bought from a different source an Anytek front view camera which works well with the unit. BTW, this unit is for my X5 E70 3.5d |

Thats some great info. Thank you!

Yeah that looks nice
I still prefer the larger screen thou |
The large 10.25” touch screen is, in my opinion, user friendly, looks and feel a lot better. It gives the dash board a newer look more in line with the later models BMW. You will still be able to use the old functions - look and feel - if you want to.
Replacement of the rear view camera is a must to complete the install. Camera replacement is straight forward but routing the cable take a bit of time. Let me know if you want some advice. |
Thank you redvault I may take you up on that.

Have the Avin unit for almost 3 years now (i think). Works well, no issues for now. Very easy install...
|
Yeah, I don't like the screen sticking up from the dash either. I don't really want a touchscreen as the iDrive is the way to go for me.
There is a member named Dennis Cooper on M5board who knows a lot about these types of units. |
I think we all want something different, I wanted to up my 07 mediocre system
To give me flexibility to add or remove pretty much anything. Job done |
Why does the parking cam need to be replaced if the android can show what i drive shows?
|
I don’t have a cam on mine , And I want both
Along with a SIM card |
Hey everyone, sorry to revive and old post, but since it's a couple of years later now plus the market is saturated with these screens plus price drops, which is now current favorite + reliable + affordable + less glitches at the moment?
|
They’re still garbage. They look nice but are trash

Have had no issues or glitches with my setup. It does what i need it to do with no issues. I do no have/use carplay, im an android guy. I got my unit from 4x4shop (yes they TOO use a Chinese based unit). Not the cheapest but at least I had peace of mind being able to talk to someone if I did run into issues. 100% would buy another one again. |

Everyone has their own experience with these units. Mine has been good. I added a wifi hotspot to the car to always have a connection without the need to tether from my phone. Aside from that I still use the native BMW side most of the time, unless I need Waze or want to stream from my music library. https://xoutpost.com/1198488-post898.html |

I've had the AHU from 4x4shop Canada since April 2019 and have had zero issues. I have it setup so when my phone connects to the x5d bluetooth the hot spot on my phone turns on right away.

I have an Avin one sitting in a box for a year+ that I need to install in our E70. Time availability has been an issue... oh and the transmission going out too. That pushed it back a bit. ;)

Like Sunny and CrystalW's, I too have the iNAV unit. I purchased it from shop4x4 dot ca (dont think i can post a link since they arent sponsors). Sunny_J's vid's are priceless, make sure you check them all out! |

You doing it with an "If-Then" logic app? I have been manually triggering it on my E53 when I wanted to use Gmaps or something requiring it. |
4x4shop Canada is not the same as AVIN as far as i can tell. 4x4 shop come with iNav stamped on the box

Woopsy, you are right.. I meant iNav! haha, my fault.. I have the box right here in front of me too  My wife uses the E70 daily for her commute and both of us on the weekends but I drive. So I really like your way of connecting the Phone to the unit as a hotspot, but how would that work with 2 users? I think I'm going to mess with it this weekend and play around with connection settings. I currently use a dedicated hotspot that I added onto my phone plan and leave it in the E70. That works for now and since I've only had the monitor in for about 3 weeks I'm still feeling out if its worth keeping the dedicated one in the car, or just tether like you did. Thanks for the correction! Note to self , iNav..iNav.. iNav... :D |

The AHU will connect to whichever phone has a stronger wifi hotspot signal |
I have an AVIN unit, bought it & installed in mid 2019. So far unit is working with no issues, it took a few weeks to get accustomed to how it works and what I was able to do in the OEM menu vs. the new one (the iDrive control vs Touchscreen) so is more a learning process.
In retrospective, a good portion of the issues I had read in the forums could be fixed with proper configuration and better understanding of the limitations & behaviour of the interface (and also rational expectations of AVIN customer service --or lack thereof--). I have had a few questions since a bought it which were responded, not inmediatly for sure, but at least they returned back the e-mails. The new screen significantly improved the interior look and feel; it made the car a few years "newer". I would buy again with no second thoughts; in fact, I should have gone for the top-of-the line one which at that time was like $100 more but at that time did not want to invest more. |
