3.0 Motor Mount help
Does anyone have a DIY for the motor mounts on the 3.0?? I have searched and found nothing. The E90 guys can do it by just dropping the subframe and leaving the control arms attached. Is it the same for us??
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks |

Have you entered your vehicle into https://www.newtis.info? If you do you will be able to search “engine mount” in the search bar and find your instructions after you choose your specific vehicle or enter the last 7 of your vin. Sent from my iPhone using Xoutpost.com |
Hi Baby Unicorn Taco,
Thanks for the help. I did play on that site but it kind of is generic and tells how the dealership does it with special tools. I was more trying to find a "hack" where I can drop the subframe enough that I do not have to mess with the suspension and can sneak the the mounts out. |
BUT has another thread recently about his 4.8 motor mounts- seems to be more than a few DIYs on the 30.... IMO there are posts/threads/links from people that have actual experience
edit: on the other site... https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh....php?t=1361973 |

Yeah. I’m starting to question whether it’s motor mounts of another issue on my 4.8i. OP, make sure you are sure that your motor mounts need replacing. I’m starting to question a couple other things that could create similar symptoms on mine. Sent from my iPhone using Xoutpost.com |
I actually read that post, but it is regarding the V8 and I am looking for the I6.
I found this site, but it is for the E90 AWD with N52. https://www.rmeuropean.com/bmw-e90-e...placement.aspx This is what I am thinking of trying, but was curious if there is anything different when it comes to the X5. |

The biggest difference between the E90 and the E70 is the all wheel drive system. It is going to get in the way. If you do the job, change your oil pan gasket while the sub-frame is out of the way. |

You can always post on the E70 owner Facebook page. You will get responses. Might find someone who did it. Sent from my iPhone using Xoutpost.com |
