Transmission malfunction
1 Attachment(s)
Hi,
I recently got a message that states there is a Malfunction in transmission position P. This occurred when I went to shift the transmission into Park. The P light doesn't light up on the transmission stalk, and the Neutral (N) light flashes. The odd thing is I can feel the car going into Park, and it doesn't roll after I select Park. I'm going to be checking codes today, just wondered if this is something people have seen before. Also, I want to show the solution I might have found for future searches. |
Okay I was able to pull some codes.
For the CAS I get A0B1/not present: CAS: Input, selector-lever position, implausible. For the transmission I get 507B/present: EGS: Parking-gear sensors implausible. Some history on the vehicle, transmission fluid, filter, sleeves and seals were changed a few thousand miles ago. It has always shifted great and continues to do so. Actually I don't notice any other issues. Seems perfectly normal when driving. I'm leaning towards a sensor. The transmission is clearly shifting into Drive, Neutral fine and indicated it on the stalk, and it's even going into Park, it just doesn't think it is. |
Update:
After clearing the codes for the 2nd time, I got under the car (with a wheel chock in place of course) and tightened the 5mm bolt that puts the transmission into physical Neutral. Then I loosened it to just right where it starts to lose tension on the lever. It went it to Park after I did that. Cleared the codes, test drove it, and no codes have returned so far. Thanks for the support. I'll update this thread if the issue returns. |

Glad we could help... ??? Very interesting outcome, thanks for documenting it! |
Thanks for the update, many don't do that after they resolve the issue.

Thanks for the resolution message - keep it in the back of the mind ;)

The update will be helpful later for someone.
Thanks for letting us know of the outcome. So many don't. They want help, but don't consider what help they could be to others. |
