Cup Holder Door Snapped In Half
Hello--haven't posted in awhile--hope everyone is safe. The half of the cupholder door that slides towards the gearshift snapped (got stuck under the console when it was slid open). So now, I have 1/2 of that door. Indy said it's expensive to repair it's the labor involved to put a new one in. He's trying to think of a workaround. Anyone have some ideas on this? Thanks.

I can think of a ton of workarounds, but all will look way worse than just leaving it open...

Ive avoided this issue the same way I avoid sunroof issues: never use it. Its been years since I moved either. Not by plan, just happenstance. Not a wind in my hair guy. And always SOMETHING in the cup holder...

Do you still have hair Ard? :nanana:

I replaced those two sliding covers with the help of a friend. It is not for the faint of heart, but certainly doable. My X5 does have 4-zone climate control as well as DVD for the rear entertainment, which made the process even more difficult.
Note that the entire center console needs to come out. I thought about a workaround but couldn't find any. We followed the steps at newtis.info to remove the center console. Good luck! |

It was only after I purchased my X and looking at interior pics online that I realized the cup holder area was supposed to have those sliding doors. I was like "oh, that's what those plastic bits I found were..." |

I recently repaired the sliding tambour cover over my ashtray. This required removing the entire center console, which is a relatively massive job. I followed the steps in the TIS. If it breaks again I'm going to leave it open rather than do that job again.

The elastic on my cupholders broke a few years ago.... has not fixed itself yet. |
