2EEA E70 4.8

Hi I’m getting code 2EEA on my 09 N62. I just finished the VSS job. Replaced a ton of other items as well. Did the valley pan & coolant transfer pipe as well. Started the vehicle back up and had a ton of codes, worked all but 1 out. Looked up the code and it’s for the coolant temp sensor, replaced it as well & still getting the code. But looking at the plug there is only 1 wire. Is this correct? Seems odd to me. There are 2 holes but one doesn’t have anything in it. It’s just black plastic. I’ve tried to look a few places but no info. I checked my other 2 BMWs and they both have 2 wires running to the coolant temp sensor. Thank you in advance.

dunno.

assume youve looked at the schematics?

I don’t really know what I’m looking at. I can read the words but am not sure what the diagram is saying

If you click on the link ard provided and then go to Engine Cooling link on the page and then scroll to the right, you will see there are two temperature sensors linked to DME. B604 and B6236a, first being the temp at radiator outlet and the second being engine coolant temperature sensor.

Schematics shows wires coming to pins 1 and 2 on both connectors X87 and X6236, so both your connectors should have two wires. X87 should have Black/Green and Black/Gray wires, and X6236 should have Brown and White/Green wires.

On the diagram you can also see where those wires go to the main connector in DME so that you can check them for continuity. Both of mine have these exact connectors and these exact wire colors.

what SPECIFIC sensor did you replace? Picture and part number ideally.

Any chance youve switched around some cable/connectors?

Is the sensor I replaced. No other wire will go to that spot. I just don’t understand. Maybe the wire go caught and ripped out but I don’t see how.

Are you sure this is a temperature sensor or that you've connected all the sensors correctly?

What you are showing seems to be the connector for oil pressure switch. X6231 connector on this diagram: B6231/X6231. It also matches the wire color for the connector from this diagram: Oil Pressure Switch

It’s x87 we’re looking at and this wire appears yellow to me

You somehow messed up the the connectors. I have same car as yours and I have access to that area - oil pressure switch connector matches what you've shown - one single wire - yellow. Radiator outlet temperature has two wires - black/gray and black/green. I can take a picture but you need to check what is connected to that oil pressure switch.
