BMW E70 cutting out when accelerating
 

Hi all,

I have a 2009 bmw x5 e70 it cuts out under acceleration it can do it in the first 5 miles and not happen for a 100 miles very intermittently. I have noticed if you stick your foot down hard it tends todo it .
Today I have oms tested the injectors after having the carly app on and it threw up every in jector 1-6.
My oms readings are
Injector part numbers are 780808901

Injector 1. 182.2
2. - 155.5
3. - 136.6
4.- 161.8
5.- 167.3
6.- 147.4

All different 🙄

Can any one help me out here many thanks.

Possibly a fuel pump issue? At WOT the pump needs to deliver pea’ fuel, any glitches and you get misses.....

I'm not getting any missing or rough running I did 350 miles in it yesterday it cur out twice on start up after a 10 min stop took the key out popped it bk in drove 155mile no problems.

Fuel pump.

Why are the injectors reading all different readings tho .... if it was fuel pump surely it would do it more often and not start at all.

1. The DME doesnt get digital messages from each injector that report "im bad". Thje DME senses something happened with the combustion chamber, perhaps the acceleration of the crankshaft, etc, to decide an injector is bad.


2. The odds of multiple injectors going bad at once is low.


3. Over the years, people have developed a HUGE dataset around BMW HPFP failures. These are not digital devices. Sometimes they fail immediately, but very commonly they fail precisely as you describe. Slowly, intermittently.


I suggest you search for 'BMW HPFP failures' and see if those stories match yours. Might as well, right? Its free.


Those injector readings are ohms or kohms? When in double, pull them and send them for flow testing. Have you looked for proper specs for them, in terms of resistance?

The readings are in ohms from what I have found on internet most of the people saying the ohms resistance test should be about 180ohms only my in injector one is reading this the rest are below one not the same.
