2010 X5M vs 2013 X5M
https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...EaApxcEALw_wcB
This one looks to be in good condition, 89,000 miles. I've seen these X5M go past 110,000 miles. So logically it should have some good life left in it. Plus it's been well maintained by a picky airline pilot. Lots of replacement parts. The thing I don't like is, it doesn't have a lot of features found standard in the later 2013 models: 1. no rear view camera 2. no bluetooth audio/music streaming 3. no headup display 4. no painted brake calipers Anything else I'm missing? BC I know you bought one of the exact paint color and leather color. What year was yours? I'm sure there's retrofit kits that allow you to update to the NBT entertainment system with the camera and bluetooth streaming. But nothing you can do about the headup display, which isn't really necessary... You can probably retrofit to the updated brak caliper, but I bet they cost an arm and a leg. Any thoughts? |
2013 will have the same CIC IDrive. You can add the combox for BT and the rear camera/module/wiring for about $500. A carplay/android auto add on system would solve both issues for less money. Adding the top view mirror cameras is more difficult and costly. HUD is OK but I only see mine at night when I am not wearing my polarized sunglasses.

Holy crap - that's a carbon copy of my 13' X5M. I have a few more features, but the red is really rare.

This one is a 2010 but it has both the rear view camera and the head up display. I'm assuming the only thing missing from this car is the combox with the bluetooth steaming function. Anything else the 2013 has besides the blue brake caliper? |

The headlight looks like halo lights. Is the led a better option?

FYI - Tried to post these the other day via mobile, but the link wouldn't work. This is what the LED optioned lights look like.

Thanks very much Dave. I see the difference between the 2 lenses. The angular look on the led does make it look more aggressive.
Unfortunately this option is very rare to find on the X5Ms in the market. My dream setup is the Monte Carlo Blue with the Silverstone leather interior. Plus all the goodies like comfort access, driver assistance package with the camera and the HUD. I think the individual audio system comes standard. Or perhaps not? Wonder how that system sounds. Do you like it? |

https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/d...-drive.841458/ If you are fairly familiar with partitioning HD's it's really easy, but you have to get a few things: 1) Transfer cable. What I did was pulled my CIC HD and then copied the image first to my desktop to back it up and then imaged it to the new SSD. I went with this cable: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 2) Hard Drive - Get the Zheino 128GB SSD and search around eBay for one or elsewhere as it's been tested to work and works flawlessly. Some of the other brands cause issues. For example, I initially went with an MSata SSD with an IDE adaptor tray and it would work fine for a week or two and then my music partition would disappear. Ended up pulling it and installing the Zheino Drive as it's an IDE interface as with the older interface/bus of our cars. I've had the Zheino drive for over a year with zero issues, so my guess is the drivers for the adaptor tray were causing screwy issues. Here's the drive I used, but you'll have to hunt around as you need an IDE 44pin interface: 2.5inch PATA IDE 44Pin 128GB SSD - IDE 2.5 SSD - www.zheinossd.com You'll note the SSD really won't increase the speed of your system as we are limited by the older bus system in the E70, but it should last longer and you'll have a backup of your CIC and can get back up and running without a trip to the dealer. Be cautions and slow when removing the trim around the radio as it can be a bit tricky, but there are plenty of YouTube videos on that as well. Let me know if you have any more questions and if I can help you out once you get your E70. |
Also, you'll see my posts on that thread near the end or last couple of pages. If you want to increase the size of your music partition, I believe I went with 59GB's then follow this thread as well:
