DIY'ers: Engine Mounts 35d, accessible from below?
 

Yesterday finished up with the service of the transmission, transfer case and the diesel filter. While I had the under body covers off it seemed to me that the engine mount bolts and the top nut are accessible from below with the stiffening plate removed. I guess I'd have to sustain each side of the engine while extracting the mount but that should not be too hard. Not really keen to drop the sub-frame unless absolutely no other option.

Anyone changed the motor mounts on the 35d? Can it be done this way?

"diesel filter" as in DPF? Wouldn't that require dropping the subframe?
Unless you meant the fuel filter.
But anyway, I had to drop the subframe. Can't get enough room w/out doing so.

Sorry, yes, I replaced the fuel filter. DPF already been out last year for cleaning. The sub-frame was dropped for that. Wish I had thought about the engine mounts then.

Thanks for letting me know. That changes the logistics somewhat. Something to "look-forward-to" I guess.

IKR, I did similar. Replaced the engine mounts (dropped subframe). Then a few months later replaced the DPF.
Had I waited on the mounts, would've been 2 birds one stone.

Just did mine a few months back. Were not fun to replace. The passengers side was pretty easy, but the drivers side was a challenge due to the space. Newtis does not show the subframe needing to be dropped, but I can assure you it will need to be done. Jack the engine up, pry the subframe downward and twist the arm and eventually you will get the right orientation to pull it out.
