Looking at 2008 4.8 this weekend
Hey guys I currently own a E53 and this weekend I’m going to look at a 2008 4.8 to replace the E53. Asking price is $7500 and it has 133k miles on it.
What is the car worth in your opinion? What are the things I should look for when inspecting it and test driving it. I’m sure there are common issues just like with my E53. Any help appreciate thanks |
coolant valley leak. Check

Like Blue Dragon mentioned, the 4.8 has a crossover coolant pipe that fails and causes a coolant leak. Take a look here:

Anyone think that is ton of $$ for a 12yr old BMW V8 w 133k???
2010-2011 private party should be close to 7-9k, no? |
IMHO at that age and mileage a lot depends on the condition and service history. According to OP asking is 7500? If it is well optioned and if, big IF, it is in decent condition and all service up to date, that could be a reasonable price. Without actually having the details it is hard to opine.

lol And my cars are listed in my profile. Click on the name, profile.... no need to have that in every single post. Not all my cars, a few others arent really important to a BMW forum. But STFU?? I bought x5 new. I think the X5 was like $66,000 at the time, give or take. The M5 I got used in 2004 for $59k. (FWIW my 996TT stickered at $153k, it was a year old when I bought it, so paid less than that.) What a twit. I really DO NOT like talking about money, what one can afford. But for you, I make an exception. FWIW, none of them were financed. Good luck on your 133k mile purchase. Do you diligence, Im sure you can find a good example. |
