Opinion on 22" offset
 

2008 sport package flares

Long story short bought 22" wheels from guy claiming that they are off X5 (5x120) turned out they are Porsche (5x130) too late to cry have to get custom adapters. Question is how thick adapters I should get.
Did my research a to get flush I should get around et25 front and below et20 front right?
Wheels are
22x9 et 45 front
22x10.5 et 55 rear
Thinking to get 20mm front which would make ET 25
And 30mm rear which would make ET 25 as well which may not be enough.
Question is do I really want to put 40 or even 45mm adapters? Isn't it little too much?
What do you guys think?

Seems to me a thickness of 20mm or even 25mm on the front won't be a problem. I run 20mm on the front with a couple of different 9" wide wheels (212s, 87s (9.5 wide) and a set of a/m 20" Rials) each with slightly different offsets. Tires between 255 and 275 wide.

On the back I use 20mm or 30mm depending which wheels I am running. One example, 10.5" 87s with et30 I ran 20mm hub size adapters, giving effectively et10. That was pretty much as far outboard as I wanted to go (315 tires). A set of E71 212, 9" et18 with 20mm was almost equally aggressive looking (255 tires). Right now it is on the Rials with 30mm spacers and 275/45 winter tires (I think wheel is et40 or et45) and it looks quite nice, close to flush but not excessive. Since my last alignment I run low camber and that pushes the top of the wheel a bit outward as well.

Given that your wheels are 55mm (Porsche uses higher pos. offsets than BMW), 30mm is a good option. Going with 40 or 45, effectively et15 or et10 may possibly exceed the flares depending on tire size as well, but is still doable. Really depends a bit on what you can personally tolerate for a regular passenger vehicle.

Very curious what type of wheels those are, post a picture? Also post a pic of what you wind up doing and how it looks on the car? It is always of benefit for others as it can be a bit hard to know exactly what a wheel & spacer combo comes out like.

BTW forgot to mention tires 285 35 22 not what I would prefer but it came with the wheels.

So it really seems like front with 20mm effective ET25 will be good enough I'm really not worried about front. What worries me is rear. I really don't want to end up that the rear wheels are hidden inside. But also don't know if too thick spacers may cause some potential issues down the road.
I'm kinda of worried that effective et25 in rear will not be enough for me :bustingup

BTW something is telling me that I'll be buying lowering springs soon as well. Depends how it will look.

As I just found out yesterday that my front struts mount are completly destroyed it's one more reason swap the spring at once.

Those 'adapters' are far beyond just wheel spacers. They are the ONLY thing holding the wheels on the car- dont skimp. Go with a well respected company... you want a company that your heirs can go after.

Yeah I know. That's why I'm concern about the safety of too thick adapter. Unfortunately I was able to find only one company selling these adapters and only 20mm size which I'm not happy about at all. But it's literally the only company I found which doesn't ask $400.

If someone has contact where I can get some for reasonable price pls let me know.
I need them asap. The wheels in the corner of the garage are making me crazy

For the non-bolt-thru I only use H&R. For me getting the TUV certified ones is the seal of approval and I don't like running anything else for such a critical component. There are a few other TUV approved ones available. Bolt-thru is less critical but then need a name brand set of longer bolts/studs. Latter of course is not an alternative in this case as you need to adapt the bolt circle.

I hear you man. But. The H&R are way too expansive.. It's almost $400. $400 for piece of metal? Give me a break. What is their profit margin? Unfortunately I fell in love with them but if I have to spend $400 for adapters I rather sell them and buy 5x120 and save my self headache.

Tempting I guess to use the Amazon items. Note though, these adapters seem to have center bore 72.6mm. Your E70 has CB 74.1mm.

So now I'm super screwed.

Can you or someone else help me. Recommendation for some company maybe even link. I texted call to all companies I found with no luck. I'm willing to pay around $200. But really not $400.
