Distorted Bluetooth phone call

I have noticed that whenever I make or receive a phone call over Bluetooth the audio when someone is speakers sounds distort or garbled. They hear the same thing when I talk. Bluetooth music come in crystal clear. Any ideas what I can check or do to fix the phone calls?

I did make sure to try turning my volume on my phone all the way down, but that doesn’t help.

Not sure if you've tried this but "forget" your phone, unpair it, from the car and your device. See if you can update your BT software on your phone, connect again to the car and see if you have the same issues again.

Thanks for the tip, I did try that, but for a different reason. I could no longer get the phone to connect over Bluetooth for music. had to forget it then repair it. It did the distortion before that and still does it now. it isn't horrible, but it is annoying.

Is is possible you have a watch or something else in the car that the BT is paired with for phone and it is interfering? Or perhaps another phone in car that is also paired with car and interfering?

I do normally wear a Bluetooth watch, but I left it at home this morning, because it needed to charge. calls were distorted worse this morning then normal. I don't think it is because I did not wear the watch, but it did rule out it being the interference. Plus when the call is distorting I can end call and play Bluetooth audio crystal clear, switch back to a phone call and the distortion is there. All while wearing the watch. I also do not have any other phone with me in the car connected or not. Good ideas though, I appreciate the reply. wish it would have been the problem :)

No problem, I didn't necessarily think that was it...but, you know- hate to have it be that simple/easy and miss it.
Good luck.

I might have found the problem. My Bluetooth antenna was disconnected and the clip to hold it on is broken off.

I fastened it back and temporarily fixed it in place. I will see if that fixes the issue

Here is the picture, looks like someone broke the connector.

The dealer disconnects that when they do the passenger side airbag recall. You are not the first person to have found it disconnected after the job.
