Can't hear turbo, vacuum issue?
I mentioned to my mechanic over the phone that I can't really hear the turbo anymore after doing HPFP, water pump, tstat, some other things myself. I have no codes per Carly, but he said I may have vacuum issue if I can't hear turbo. Performance is ok to me, not sure if its the best it has ever been but seems fine. Any advice on what values I should log (boost values) in Carly or other things to read out before I go chasing vacuum lines? They are original and 2010 35d with 107k. Thanks

Boost pressure measured by the App tool needs to be above ambient for the turbo to be working - mine goes up to 2.5bar. I once had the inlet hose to the throttle body pop off, so the car was pretty much NA - the car was really really underpowered... you're bound to notice the turbo not working...

Thanks, it definitely moves quickly. The boost values I can read are:
Basic boost pressure setpoint value ( low-pressure stage ) (hPa) Boost pressure - value before correction (kPa) Boost pressure control of the manipulated variable (%) Boost pressure plate actual position of the sensor characteristic (%) Boost pressure plate raw actual position (%) Boost pressure plate target duty ratio (%) Also I recently replaced the tstat and water pump, DPF cleaned itself out, not sure if related but seems coincidental and concerned that maybe I cut a vacuum hose, they don't look good but I figured I would get a code if that was really the case. |
