Swirl Flaps Delete

My X5 35D intake is off at the moment. Should I remove the swirl flaps?
Is it really worth it and is it true that I will suffer a drop in MPG?

I didnt see any effect on mpg. Benefit of the delete is less things to go wrong. I did mine when the seals around the swirl-flap 'cartridges' were leaking.
