(I can’t see the video either)

Thanks for the link ard. That is very helpful.

I found 3 aux water pumps that claims to fit my S63. But the pictures doesn't seem to fit that black part below the intercooler.

Here's a photo of the engine. There seems to be a pump that attaches to the intercooler on the bottom of the picture.

If the problem is with the same electronic auxiliary water pump, there's a recall bulletin that might help my X5.

Will bring it to the dealership and have them examine the issue first.

At least I can get a proper diagnostic before deciding to diy.

Just call and ask about the recall, they can pull it up w the VIN. (make sure they look it up, if they are lazy -socal dealer doncha know- they may just say "well if you didnt get a letter it wasnt recalled")

The '917 part looks like the intercooler pump. But you should go to realoem.com and look it up with your vin. Not picture matching . ( ;) )

Update:

I did an engine flush, then changed the oil and added Ceratec from Liqui Moly.

The low coolant light came on so I filled it to the max with bmw coolant.

The noise went away and stayed away for the past 2 weeks.

Took the X5M to vegas and back and the aux pump noise is no longer there.

Not sure what happened. Maybe the blades broke off?

Anyway the temperature is at constant 95~100 and the engine was happily humming along at 100~110. Accleration is strong and no other noise is currently present. Fingers crossed this honeymoon period lasts!
