EGR clean

Because I was changing my thermostat and had the EGR cooler removed I decided to clean the throttle body and EGR. The car has 100k and these have never been cleaned before. Boy, were they dirty. It makes me want to do the intake and engine now (maybe next year).
I just used some acetone and detailing cotton buds. Came out a treat.

Sorry, I know this is an older thread but I'm planning similar maintenance in the near future.
- Is it ok to push the TB plate open after disconnecting it?
- Is there any grease at the plate axle joints we need to look out when cleaning it?

Yes its OK to move the TB plate, you need to do that to really clean it. I applied a small amount of lubricant to the plate pivot points after cleaning.

Just take your time and take pictures if needed.

When I replaced my throttle body, they looked nothing like that all. Throttle body had a trail of oil along the bottom that could be wiped off and the EGR valve had a dark grey and tan coating on it. Makes me want to check again. Going to have to be replacing my valve cover soon, I'd guess, and I want to install a oil catch can also.
