Mine is not my daily driver and I don't drive further from my home than the roadside insurance covers. I always have a hard case carry-on bag in the back. I load it with basic tool kit, scanner, duct tape, gloves, paper tools, micro towels, tarp, quart of oil, zip ties and a few other things in case it is an easy fix. Otherwise, have it towed home, which has never happened.

I have an extinguisher mounted in the back and am going to add a second one on the other side. Have had no issues with heat though it is garaged all the time and when out it is seldom in the heat longer than an hour or two.

My E53 X5's trunk now carries a growing collection of basic and some specialty tools, not required for my other vehicles. Beyond basic tools, there are

• 1) two multimeters, test light, test cables, probes, complete set of spare fuses (just bought 45 spare maxi fuses last night, enough for all my vehicles...but no spare relays yet),
• 2) air compressor, tire valve core & cap kit, two jacks, one jackstand, lift block, non-slip lift pads, rubber ground pads to place under all, multiple tire tools/sockets/4-way/electric impact (the battery-powered impact goes on out-of town trips), breaker bar with extender, two torque wrenches,
• 3) a borescope for my phone(s) and onboard tablet,
• 4) several electrical strippers & crimpers,
• 5) multiple types of needlenose and lineman's pliers,
• 6) a set of BMW viscous clutch wrenches (32mm, that I'll never need again),
• 7) two 32mm oil filter cap sockets (+ a 36mm for ??),
• 8) three kneeling pads,
• 9) two battery chargers,
• 10) tie-downs, tarps, tape (multiple types), tie-wraps, etc.,
• 11) spare MAF sensors(2) and one oil cap,
• 12) two quarts of oil and one gallon of pre-mixed blue coolant (in the right-side storage bin), etc., etc., etc.

I'm sure I'm overlooking some items, but I'm collating the metric tools, and lots of all-purpose tools in the X5, because I drive it most often (almost 1300 miles in two years,haha), and the drop-down tailgate is so convenient and useful. And I overdo everything, all or nothing....

I go old school....

Question: Is there a michelin tire that has the same load rating in a 255/50-19 (or close)????


Looks like they have a latitude HP that is 255/55-19. About 0.9 inch bigger, approx 2.5% rolling diameter difference.... and other suggestions?
