IMO taller sidewalls to improve ride are not a good idea since tires are a critical component of handling. Components are 'matched' to achieve a certain handling capability.
One never knows when it will be necessary to make an emergency avoidance maneuver. The additional rollover and potentially a higher center of gravity from taller sidewalls could be the difference in the outcome. |

Plus side wall design and compliance, between tire brands/models, has a wide range...I expect that one could simply change tire models and select more or less compliant sidewalls. Simply picking a tire "one inch bigger" (on each sidewall) without and consideration of what tire model is on now, and what you are moving TO, is prolly just a crap shoot. Plus, $600 for 4 tires? Wonder what quality is being chosen in this case.... |
