Yep its just a shunt like is used in many applications. All of my solar setups use them. The point being if you hook directly at the battery the ibs is clueless as to the state of charge. The shunt aka ibs is attached to the negative post so for the ibs to monitor charge it has to be on opposite side of the shunt negative wise. Positive connection can be anywhere it runs to.
