Not yet. It's still on my mind. But as of right now there doesn't actually seem to be any issues as a result of the K-CAN issues, other than many faults when I use a scanner.

With the two kids I pretty much need to take time off work to get such things done.

SO now its an intermittent?

Scan it with ISTA, screen shot it...then if it goes sideways later you have something to compare. Just waging....

What is intermittent? K-CAN faults? Those are always there, granted I don't clear faults. But there are no discernible symptoms. No lights/warnings on dash or infotainment, no loss of vehicle function. I wouldn't know at all except that they come up with a scanner. K-CAN is supposedly designed to work on one wire if there's an issue with one, so maybe that's where I'm at.

AC is not intermittent and is happily working now.

It is my intention to tackle K-CAN diagnosing some day though and try to get the car as fault free as possible.

Really I'd say case closed for this thread.

Sorry, I misunderstood. It sounded like the shop found no faults, and the AC was now working fine. And it wasnt before. Without really finding THE thing that was wrong

Re-reading, maybe that added freon? and THAT was the issue?

(When you use a commercial AC service system, they pump the system down, removing the freon, then you do a vacuum hold test...then REFILL (with the freon they just removed). This is the part I may have missed.....

All good

Sorry, yes.

Took it back to the shop that recharged it back in 2018.
They used UV light and inspected for the UV dye that was added back then, but could not find any evidence.
Hooked it up to machine, pulled vacuum and it passed the test (I think legally they can't recharge if it fails this test).
So they refilled and AC is functioning again.
$140 for the refill vs $3500 from bad shop that proposed bad clutch/compressor.

So yes I jumped the gun and conflated issues with K-CAN and AC. Just a coincidence they showed up about the same time. Just low on freon.

Keep us posted. Losing your freon load in only a few years (3ish?) could be a decent leak. A dye is only as good as the person looking, and a condensor stuff up under the dash is hard/impossible to really inspect well (a trick is to look at the condensate drain pipe). Still, way better that 3500. ;)
