Tire Combo for Staggered Wheels
Need help - I’ve recently decided to change my stock 18s all around to 20x10 fronts and 20x11 rears Style 214. I know the recommended tire specs are 275/40r20 for the fronts and 315/35r20 for the rears.
Question is, is it safe to use 275/45r20 for the fronts and maintain the 315/35r20 for the rears? |

Tires need to be within 1% If you bump the rear up to 40 ratio it's under 1%. https://tiresize.com/calculator/ |
Thank you very much for this, Andrew. Now I gotta look for a buyer for the 45s…

Or find some 315/40/20

Quote 'safe' or not... the centre diff is an open style, and aided with ABS traction control. if your centre diff was fully locked at all times, you would need identical OD tire sizes. now, I'm not specific with the xdrive, but the centre diff in the 4.6is is pretty simple so that's all i can speak too.

E70. All are x-drive and will not tolerate 3% difference in rolling circumference.
The open diff on e53 could handle it but the abs won't tolerate the front and back axles turning at different effective speeds |
