5 dash light turned on simultaneously
2011 E70 35D - 233896 km
Hello everyone Looking for insight on this situation. Was slowly driving threw traffic when the ABS, 4x4, traction control, parking brake and rear brake came up all at once out of the blue. Also noticed the cruise control stopped working aswell. I can still drive the X5 as of now. I asked on the x5 Facebook page but got so many different answers I thought I'd ask here. Will scan with bimmercode and see what I get tomorrow morning and update information. I feel this is pointing towards a bad wheel speed sensor? Any insight until then is appreciated. Regards |
WSS or SAS are the prime suspects but low voltage also can cause such.
Pull and reset codes and go from there |
No way of knowing until you pull codes!

Agree w Andrew (and your assessment). A wheel speed sensor was my original thought as well. However the parking brake error tripped me up. Is that a 'if the ABS isnt working right, you get a brake error on everything related to a brake function'?
How is the battery health? Any charging system concerns? While this can cause a glitch, the fact that CC isnt working seems notable. Report back |
Using Veepeek OBDII Bluetooth adaptor with OBD fusion app to read codes. Codes found are P2621, P2620 and P14A7
I know my throttle body is bad should receive it in the mail anytime now to sort that out. P14A7 is my particule filter throwing an error code as my thermostat is stuck on the open position ( Engine temp wont go above 72 degree Celsius) I heard those two were related but still hesistant in changing the thermostat myself. Other than that i cant see any other codes about ABS, TPMS, 4x4, PARK or parking brake My battery is about a year and a half old (bought new from BMW) and seems healthy at 12.7 volts and 14.7 volts when the engine is running. Thoughts? |

I don’t think fusion will read the codes from ABS.
Bimmerlink will though. The right it’ll work with. |
Ahh gotcha. Will purchase it on the app store and scan again with veepeek after work.

Bought Bimmer link. I have multiple codes and unsure where to look at but got a screenshot of codes that seems relevant.
Under dynamic stability control i have code 5E24 where it states that the signal from front left is missing Transfer box is throwing 55C3 code witch point out a possible faulty wheels speed sensor And Park distance control has multiple codes related with sensor that are short circuited. I am guessing if 1 sensor fails all the system is then compromised. I did not find anything with the ABS thought unless I overlooked something. Here are the screenshots. Let me know what you guys think https://i.ibb.co/YL5sT7r/Screenshot-...immer-Link.jpg https://i.ibb.co/3RqSmTp/Screenshot-...immer-Link.jpg https://i.ibb.co/2gsH5z4/Screenshot-...immer-Link.jpg |
Clear codes see what returns.
Abs uses the wheel speed sensor and the car considers that part of the brake function. Pdc error also suggest you might have damage to a harness that holds both wires so I would look for that before replacing parts. |

recommend using https://bmwfault.codes/ to lookup the 4 character faults. Because ABS and traction/stability control system all intermingle you can get one fault in one that affects the others. your 5E24 DSC: Wheel-speed sensor, supply, front left means they aren't seeing a signal on the return path likely because there is an open in the sensor or there's no 5v signal reaching the sensor or the return circuit. in order to get anywhere with this you need to apply fault finding procedure with correct tools and not just buy a replacement part until you can confirm a fault. don't focus on any other fault until you fix this one first |
