vacuum pump reinstall
 

I recently removed the 3 torx bolts on my 07 x5 with 4.8 vacuum pump to replace vanos solenoids, the pump slid out like butter,but now I can't get it seated properly? am I missing something here? it appears to be fairly simple!
does anybody know anything about this?

The pump has that hinged key that is probably flopping around on you. Best way is to rotate engine by hand and get the slot in the cam shaft vertical, so hopefully the vacuum pump key won't flop about during reinstall.
