002A99 DME Crankshaft exhaust camshaft, reference
Well it has been one thing after another. 3.0 gas 2009 X5
Car runs fine but after about a 10 minutes starts squealing from the engine compartment and Carly shows the code above. I've also had a water pump code (replaced in 2023 w/thermostat) but that code hasn't recurred. Any ideas, CCV? Or something worse. Also, engine will idle rough. Appreciate Xoutpost! |
squealing together with the camshaft code is not good. Has there been any work done on the cam/lifters?? If that all fits together then very possible someone installed the cam without using the special tools to align the bearing bores. You might try leaving the oil cap off and see what comes out for sound/smoke.

No cam/lifter work done. You can turn off the ignition and restart and it's absolutely normal. Only thing close is plugs and cam cover gasket about 5 years ago.

Use a piece of hose with one end in your ear to see if you can trace were the sound is coming from.
Clearing the code and getting a proper scan tool might be a good idea as well. |
Any updates?

Were you able to hear where the sound is coming from? Did you get something better to read the codes?
|
Not able to attach screenshots or video. Codes are A6F3 Not Present coding data CRC error and P13B6 Pending Crankshaft / 'B' Camshaft Reference Error (Bank 1). Also had to add a quart of oil, it was at minimum.
