E70 Disconnect power for Storage, Rear Hatch

Hello,

I need to disconnect the power/battery as I am going to be away for more than 2 month. Planning to leave the car outside.

I am wondering after you disconnect the battery and close the rear hatch, how do you open the hatch again when you need to reconnect the battery? Is there a manual release switch?

And to close the rear hatch on my model I typically press a button. Without power, do you just force it down or is there a release switch also?

Thanks in advance.

Leave the seats down so you can get to the back. There is a manual release i forget how you hey to it i think it's easier than the first version where you had to use a screwdriver.

Thanks Andrew. Just went outside and popped the rear hatch open. No screw driver needed. Tab comes out and cable attached to tab.

Thanks again.

Yeah i think i could grab mine with thumbnail.

I once shut my trunk with battery disconnected but with the truck deck propped up with a prop rod! That was very difficult to remedy!

I did the exact same thing. I used a stick to move the battery cables so they could contact the battery terminals and that restored power. A lesson learned. I just couldn't lever off the emergency release cover. If I had to do it again, I'd think of another way or at least remove the cover first.
