Oil leak in drivers side wheel well??
Hello, I’ve searched all over trying to figure out what these lines are but can’t figure it out. Two lines that appear to run to a small radiator in the driver side wheel well. Theres a big oil leak coming from one of them but I can’t tell if it’s from that line, or running down the line from somewhere else.
Are these oil cooler lines? Or auxiliary radiator lines? 2008 X5M 4.8i gasoline Help please!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...dab3e63412.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Hope it's transmission cooling line much easier fix than the alternator b bracket "mickey mouse" gasket.
I usually clean it all off with a diy spray car wash and see where the leak starts. –awr– Using Tapatalk VIP on iPhone |
It’s definitely oil coming out, not transmission fluid. And I was thinking the alternator bracket but mostly curious what these lines are as it appears to be coming out of them.

Also sorry I did clean it off with the car wash but can’t tell if it’s coming from a pinhole leak in the line or somewhere out of sight Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Unfortunately you will need to remove the inner wheel arch to do a better diagnoses.
When in doubt put UV dye in the oil and get a good uv flashlight to find. –awr– Using Tapatalk VIP on iPhone |

Based on realoem, that's the engine oil cooler for N62.
Trans oil cooler is heat exchanger, fluid to fluid, and below main radiator. Unfortunately can't help much with identifying leak. I was in over my head/intimidated by everything when I first bought my E70 and the alternator bracket gasket went, and the shop wanted a few hundred to just get in there to identify the source because there's so much in the way. But that was a few hundred needed for the repair anyways. |
