Does anyone know when the model is due for sale in the UK?
|
hi,
my friend works a bmw dealer, he said price list and options about december 2006, possible delivery dates about april 2007 , they have already taken names for orders he thinks about 8 month wait at certain dealers already... |

I was just talking with my stlr the other day, but he said there should be no reason the current release dates should coincide with past releases, i.e. e90, e60, e53, etc. They're always 3-4 months before the US models...
Having said that, does anyone know when the official release "month" is for the US? Obviously I wont be able to get mine until then... |
Why would the X5 arrive later in the UK?
OK wait, upon thinking about it, I think I have answered myself. The X5 is made down in the USA. But doesn't the European market get their own Euro-made X5s from one of the many BMW factories in Germany? |

The line will most likely ramp up with model variations being added every few months, which is why RHD and Euro models will likely be somewhat later. And for Bozo, there have been several reports that the world premier is Nov 24 2006, at the LA show, with dealer premiers starting Nov 25. |

Damn!! I was hoping it would be in Europe, but oh well...LA is a bit far for me to check out the unveiling.... |
Just placed my pre-order today with dealer. He suggested April 07 for first UK deliveries - he already has 17 orders, but mostly for Diesels. If you want to jump to the head of the queue order a petrol engine.

My dealer is saying similar things on dates.
i put my money down in January dealer reckoned their pre launch would be start of new year . The only thing he did mention was (and another dealer from a different franchise also said the same thing) You are not on a waiting list as such, you have reserved a build slot, there is no guarantee that you will get the fifteenth X if you are fifteenth on the list. This is especially so when you consider the dealer is also on a list with BMW, BMW will only release initially a certain amount of x's in the UK, this is common practice, those X's will be/have been allocated to the dealer groups. The amount each group/franchise will get is based on such things as previous sales, buying nummbers, sales quotas etc etc. So if you are with say Sytners, chances are you will find that get a large allocation due to their size etc etc If you are with Sytners up north thats even better as sales are better in dealerships 'up North' If you are with a smaller group, say in regional Wales then this allocation will be even less due to their sales history on the X in comparison. So to say you are on an waiting list is not truly reflective of your position. In addition you will find various options/ models are not ready at time of release as above post regarding petrol and diesels. You will also find initially that the dealer will push a certain model/spec to hit their own targets so they can improve their allocations as and when the better specs filter through in the following months. Remember what he says aint available when you ask will be not long after. Look at the original history of the X or at the facelift time. Moral of the story is..... putting your money down doesnt mean what the dealer tells you it means, because at the moment even he doesnt know and be patient.... hold on for what you want not whats on offer. |
