what about auto start/stop option in E70?
 

I heard that BMW's 1, 3, 5 series will contain this Auto start/stop option which will decrease the fuel consumption by 5%!


would this option be in E70 as well?


If it will, BMW is far ahead of the game.

I'd disconnect that functionality if it was on my X5...

but still, it is outstanding option compared to the other competitior. Also the suv's typical "gas guzzler" style will change with the trend of BMW would pursue. Any idea that E70 has a possibility of having that option?

I agree with Jay that I'll rather do without the auto start/stop feature. That 5% saving would totally negate any saving if and when you have to swap out your starter every year or so. I preferred GM's method of cylinder management method much better...running on 4 when cruising and all 8 when the power is needed.
