You may want to wait for Bentley SUV - power is likely to come from both, the Arnage’s 6.75-litre V8 with 475 bhp and the Continental GT’s 6-litre W12 TwinTurbo developing 560 bhp.

Getting back into my X5 was a revelation, which felt vastly more competent. Where are BMW getting it so wrong these days? Both my M3 CSL and X5 4.8is seem considerably more pure and rewarding than anything BMW currently makes. It worries me that they might also completely miss the mark with the forthcoming X5/X6.

Have you tried the new M5 or M6?

Yes I've driven both many times. A friend of mine who used to own a 4.8is and has owned an M5 for the past year is selling his car due to the shocking fuel economy (and small tank). An M5 makes even a 4.8is look environmentally acceptable..

p.s. M5's chassis was good for a saloon but I found the M6 a little floaty, both of them were enjoyable though. Their main weakness dynamically speaking is the steering which feels artificial and synthesised - not a patch on the X5 I'm afraid. I have an E92 M3 on order and I'm genuinely concerned about how it will steer. Are you listening BMW??

If anything, the older Bimmers carry that characteristic more so than the newly models.

Obviously there are technological advancements with the new E70 that that are of interest and will certainly help to sell the new vehicle, but again, the developments are of an evolutionary, as opposed to revolutionary nature. But judging the new vehicle strictly on from the standpoint of exterior styling, it's not much of a change. If maintained and enhanced, the E53's can still be a very impressive vehicle.

I don't think my E53 is going to be suddenly obsolete with the introduction of the E70. I'm certainly going to try to prevent that from happening with some very judicious upgrades of my own.

A couple of bimmer classics that will always be classics forever...

WOW! An audi badged prius ;)

Guys, no matter which SAV is comming out by any car producer, i just got this feeling that the new X5 or X6 which ever it is, is going to be ONE BAD A@@ SAV, out there. i use to have 4.4, then 4.6 and now 4.8 , and it just keeps going even better and better!!!
I'm quit shure that the new one is going to have an M badge on it, or if not it will still beat ml63, Cayenne turbo s!! fo shizzle
When u say SAV, the first thing is on your mind is........X5
