E70 officially on www.bmwusa.com

Holycrap this thing looks amazing. I love it. Its under future vehicles section. They have alot of info and picuters. I cant believe how nice it came out. Well done BMW

agreed! looks great.

Yeah...much better than those mule-turd Trailblazers we were seeing.

Maybe I need glasses, but (and I guess this is a good thing) it doesnt seem to make the e53 look dated at all! except for the interior of course...Not as drastic a change as the e39-e60 or e46-e90...Still amazing looking nonetheless..

I agree to an extent--but from the rear I think it's a huge change (thumbs up). I do have to say I was glancing around at my center console yesterday and it was looking very Cadillac Allante in comparison...but overall I don't think the E70 will cause a death spiral of E53 values, which, if intentional, is actually very clever on BMW's part, because overall resale stats are agnostic.

Tony scrap your 06 X5 order, you are going to take a huge bath on it the second you take deliv...wait for the new one for it seems to blow away the current X5's man.

Dont tempt me because ive been thinking about it. But ive also been thinking about the reliabilty problems a first year model will have.

SANguru 08-14-2006 01:22 AM

dump it like a cheap ho.. I agree with sniffles.

HAHA I like the way you think. Damn you guys are messing with my head now my heart was set on the 2006. Stop toying with my emotions.

bozo 08-14-2006 02:27 AM

Do you really have an 06 on order? Dude, you should drop that thing like a bad habit...Especially if you dont plan to keep for more than, lets say, forever...

The pressure is already being felt over here...Theres a 2006 4.4 on the lot with Prem Pk, Nav, and PDC for 46 even and they can't even move it now...I guess the good thing is, you wont have to worry about glitches, etc..But I've learned that that isnt a big deal any more...BMW took exceptionally good care of all (most) of the e90 cases and they're almost non existent now from what I hear...At the very least, give it some thought...

T - If you are planning on leasing it you can forget about getting out of the lease in a year or so with a brand new model out there, so don't do it man unless you are ready to commit to 3 years of antiquated technology.
Yes BMW had some issue's with the 7's ect but they have had a few years already for the Idrive quirks ect.

Hold out man and get the new one, it's a 4.8 and it is soooooo good looking :)

07 will be a smarter financial move.

I know I'm in the minority here, but stick with the '06. The frustrations of the glitches and fixes aren't worth it IMO.

vinuneuro 08-14-2006 08:32 PM

You already have a post-facelift e53, and it's spec'd very similarily to your 06. Following through with your 06 order would be more foolish of a decision than almost anything else I can think of. Either dump the 04 now and spring for an e70 or hold on to it for a couple years until you feel the e70 is ready to be owned by you.

DINANM3 08-15-2006 06:50 PM

Ok i called my dealer and asked what i could do to get the E70 and cancel the E53. They said i cant cancel it but they would take it and sell it to somone else if i really wanted the E70. But I would have to order on and will not be able to get one for at least 2-3 months after the first one hits the dealer. So I cant wait that long since i already promised my 2004 e53 to someone who needs it pretty soon. So my original deal was a 39month lease. I changed that to a 24 month lease and have to pay an extra $25 per month for that But same down pmt. now My wifes audi will be off lease in december and she will be needing a new car. she wants a 530Xi but i talked her into taking the 2006 4.4 until the end of its lease. So in december my wifes audi goes away. thank God I hate that car. Then she takes my new X5 and I get an E70 X5 to replace it. How does that sound to everyone.

That's an excellent plan. Keep in mind not all colors will be available initially, some are as late as April 2007.

Great call all the way around. While I had an original '04 X3 with no issues, I've read and heard about too many glitches to make going with the first year worth it. This way just about the time you're ready to pull the trigger on the E70 they will have worked out the bugs . . . most of them anyways.
