Yes I will be happy to drive my E70 4.8i with a base price of $48,216 with military factory direct pricing and a repeat buyer discount, 0-60 in 6.4 seconds No problem, E53 4.8si 0-60 in 5.9 for an MSRP of $71,100 hmm, I can modify my engine for about $5k :nanana:

Ummm... UNVME, I'm in the exact same situation with the additional 2% too... haven't decided for sure, but that's what I'm considering as well. (we don't have to rub it in, though)

Specifically with the PCS program, one very minor thing struck me--they always lower the cost of the navigation system by about $100, and then don't include the disc, so you have to buy it on your own. I see though, that they're charging full price for the technology package, including the Nav, but it still wouldn't include the Nav DVD. Interesting.

Well, I for one am over the PR blurbs and after sales service that goes with the 'Ultimate Driving Machine'.

My 4.8 has been detonating since day one, the air suspension does not work and it has constant faults (inactive suspension etc).

So far I have been back to my dealer approx 20 times over the last 12 months. I finally threw my hands up in disgust and threatened legal action when they started telling me they were going to lower the compression to fix the detonation, and the suspension was 'all in my mind'.

The local dealer gave me this BS about the fuel quality, drove the car and pronounced that it was fine, didn't ask anything about when the detonation was occuring and that was his official report to BMW Aus.

I've gotten over being SSSOOOOOOOOOO angry at being stonewalled by this DICK who claimed 4.4's and 4.8's are no different in handling, andf have now engaged a mechanical engineer and my lawyer to fight it.

And you know what? I paid $165k for the 'ULTIMATE DRIVING EXPERIENCE', some $40k extra above the price of a 4.4 for the handling and performance that I've never had.

BMW Aus said they aren't going to do anything except get their rep to confirm the DICK's findings..... go figure.

We were about to trade both X5's in for a loaded X3 and an E70 (our 4th and 5th BMW's in 3 years) but are now looking at Rangies, Porsches and Merc's because any company that treats you like that when you have a demonstrable and persistent problem isn't worth SSSSSHHHH%%%%TTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah you're right....

Good catch, for my E90 I had to pay around 200 euros for the Nav disc here and will purchase a US disc when I return to the states (it adds up) I really don't know if the Technology Package is worth it. I will need to make my final decision before March.

Should be less than that I think..I got the 2006-2007 prices list last week (without the e70 of course..:rant) and the 2006 4.8is base is 63,500...It usually runs at least 5-7K lower than MSRP. If youre not picky like I am, the best thing to do is wait for the dealer spec'ed models to be delivered and you could save about 10-12K easy....;)

UNVME 10-06-2006 05:27 AM

That's pretty good (you can also add the take 5 promo for options);) I have never actually spec'd out a 4.8si. I'm still going to wait for the e70, I think I will love the optional active roll stabilization, and I really like comfort access.

bozo 10-06-2006 05:59 AM

That also confuses me..In order to use Take 5, you have to order and pay in full by 31 October. But have the military prices officially been released? Or, will they be released by 31 October? I know up here they're still keeping pretty tight lipped about it...:dunno:

UNVME 10-07-2006 02:00 PM

Take 5 only applies to 2006 X5 and 2007 5 series, not available for E70, prices were released here about a month ago. I don't recall the base price on the 3.0, however base on the 4.8 is $49,200

Any chance of your contact letting you scan a copy of the brochure? Does the interior color sample of the tobacco leather looks more like dark reddish brown (like the E70 promo pic) in the hard copy borchure?

LeMansX5 10-30-2006 01:11 AM

Tobacco is more like saddle brown in 335 coupe. I saw it in person.

BTW, the hard copy of the brochure has lot more text.
